FOLIO

D E S I G N B R I E F

Folio is a furniture and lighting brand with the ability to adjust the size and material by the user. The theme of the design is to create a customizing panel according to the characteristics of the product and the user experience.

Design Objectives were:

  • Provide people with as much as possible/necessary information to explain well the product to help choosing best configuration for user and convince to buy it.
  • Show product features – shade is configurable, made of woodskin – closed with magnets and installed in a way that makes it reversible, so the material of inside and out can be flipped also later, show different pattern, light on/off.
  • Show tech specs which are necessary.
  • Find good way to illustrate materials and describe them.
  • a.Structurally the page layout should be designed to be adaptable also to the other products like bookshelves, tables, etc.

Service Designer

The subject of customizing furniture before buying is one of the new trends in this field, so in the first stage of this service, a number of users were interviewed to determine their needs and pain points. Also, many benchmarks were reviewed that had worked in this field, i.e. customizing service before ordering. After the user research, the initial prototypes were prepared (Link to the Prototype) and tested in a meeting with the users to determine their problems, then the final design was prepared.
